Explanation
A battle card is a one-page brief created by product marketing for use by sales in the moment. A competitive battle card typically covers where the competitor genuinely wins, where they genuinely lose, the traps or qualifying questions that surface the difference, the pricing and packaging comparison, proof points such as customers who switched, and the exact language to use when the competitor is mentioned. Objection battle cards do the same for recurring objections about price, security, or timing. The card's usefulness depends on two things that are easy to get wrong. It must be honest about competitor strengths, because a card that claims total superiority gets ignored by anyone who has met an informed buyer. And it must be short enough to be scanned during a call, which means one page and specific phrasing rather than a slide deck of features. Battle cards decay quickly as competitors ship and pricing changes, so they need an owner and a review cadence, ideally fed by win-loss interviews.
